Long Term Care

What Is Long Term Care?

In the recent years, the “graying” of the American population has grown exponentially. Many older adults will develop multiple physical and mental health comorbidities as they age, making it more likely they will need long term care services. Long-term care services include a variety of support services to help older adults meet their medical and personal care needs. Mental health services play an integral role in helping older adults in long-term care settings to improve their quality of life. Sentience Psychological Services currently accepts all long-term care insurances, allowing us to provide care for those in need.

Mobile Counseling Services

Most people who receive long-term care services reside in assisted living, skilled nursing, and group homes. Sentience Psychological Services offers mobile counseling services, meaning that we will provide services for residents in the group home or facility that they reside in. By bringing counseling services directly to the residents within their current living circumstances, it eliminates barriers to accessing mental health care, including transportation and stigma. And, for those residents who are unable to meet face to face with a counselor, we offer telehealth services via video or phone.

We address a range of emotional and psychological needs. Our services are flexible, accessible, and tailored to the unique circumstances of the resident. We find that this approach fosters a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere within long-term care facilities and generally enhances their sense of well-being and quality of life. We collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals and staff to ensure comprehensive and integrated care. Overall, our services play a crucial role in addressing the unique psychological needs of residents in long-term care settings.
