Fred Oaxaca, MC
Licensed Associate Counselor
Fred Oaxaca is a dedicated and compassionate counseling licensed associate counselor at Sentience Psychological Services. He completed the counseling program at Arizona State University. Fred is deeply committed to creating a collaborative and empathetic environment where clients can explore, process, and experiment with different ways of thinking and behaviors.
Fred emphasizes building a robust therapeutic relationship, understanding that this is foundational to effective counseling. His approach is integrative and client-centered, focusing on each individual's unique strengths, needs, and goals. While still shaping his theoretical orientation, Fred draws on person-centered, multicultural, Adlerian, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches to support his clients.
Fred is particularly interested in viewing clients holistically, recognizing the multifaceted nature of individuals, including their culture, identity, and the impact of societal factors. He believes in addressing clients' experiences comprehensively, considering both psychological and physiological factors in treatment. Additionally, Fred has a particular interest in the significant impact of nutrition on mental health and the therapeutic alliance.
With a rich background in non-profit, advocacy, and political work, Fred brings a unique perspective to his counseling practice. His prior experiences have taught him the importance of storytelling and relationship-building, which he integrates into his therapeutic work.
Fred looks forward to contributing to the Sentience team and supporting clients on their journeys towards mental well-being. He is supervised by Amanda Robinson, LPC as he continues to develop his skills and knowledge in mental health counseling.
